90 Day Old Testament Journey ~ Genesis 11-20

“Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward, and southward and eastward and westward, for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever. I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted. Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you.” 13:14-17

I cannot fathom promises so great, yet there is greater over our lives. I can’t even begin to imagine what is in-store for a humble heart.

Abram followed through journeying the ways that the Lord led him; he was obedient, and faithful. I came to this bit of chapter 15 and found that although my desires weren’t those of Abram, the answer that the Lord gave Abram is the greatest breath of fresh air, greater than that! The Lord came to Abram in a vision, and after reassuring Abram, Abram responded with a desire of his. While the Lord had sent many blessing and protection over Abram and his wife; there was still something missing to Abram.. it was children that he had dreamed of having, so he asked that Lord. This is the response that our Father gave: “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” 15:5 He didn’t just reassure Abram that he knew what his heart desired, and that He was going to fulfill them, but He showed Abram that His plans for his life were greater, and exceeded Abram’s dreams and desires. That is our Father that lives in heaven. He exceeds all of our expectations, even when we think that He is unaware of the wants of our hearts.

This one will end a bit on the shorter side. There is much to tell about Abraham and his generations, but I feel as if though tonight all that the Lord had be focused on was the theme of trusting, accepting, and knowing. Trust Him with your desires, accept that His hand is over your life (don’t try to fight it as I do so often), and know who you are to the Lord, know that He is above all of the things in this world, and best yet above your life. That is all for tonights devo. I hope you are doing absolutely great! Until tomorrow 🙂
