“Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let is then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” 4:14-16
I know that there were many wise and noble people who followed and believed in God before Jesus, but I am just extremely thankful that God knew that Jesus was the key to salvation, and beyond thankful that he would give up his only Son for us. I find it so personally special that God would know that it would be Holiness in human form that would forever change the course of the world and our minds on His existence.
The Redemption Through the Blood of Christ is this: To be able to speak and know God because the blood of Christ has paved the way. Before Christ there were sacrifices that had to be given for different things, and the reason why we do not have to offer up sacrifices to get closer to God is because the blood of Jesus was enough. “For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.” 9:13-14
He is the mediator of a new covenant – let yourself be called and receive your promised eternal inheritance!
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made our of things that are visible.” 11:1,3
Hebrews 11 goes on to speak of a handful of people who by their faith lived out their lives in obedience to the Lord, if you need encouragement please read it!!! Its a bit longish so I won’t put it all in here, but its golden! Go go go!
“Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.” 12:12-13
Remember that the kingdom that we belong to cannot be shaken. – “You have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festival gathering, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of righteous made perfect, and to Jesus.” 12:22-23
“Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.” 1:22
The book of James goes on to add that faith without good works is dead. You cannot expect your faith to save you or anyone else, if you know that someone needs something you cannot expect your words and faith to fix their needs when you can do the personal job to help provide, that would be the work. “For the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead” 2:26
Draw near to God, and He will Draw near to you.
“Finally, all of you, have unity in mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.” 3:8
“In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and respect.” 3:15
“Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the imd in the flesh no longer for hymn passions but for the will of God.” 4:1-2
Be patient and mediate in him when sad or suffering. Know that He will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” 1:3-4
