60 Day New Testament Journey ~ 1 Corinthians 1-8

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” –  these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searched everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given to us by God.” 2:9-12

The Spirit of God is different from our Spirits as humans. Our Spirits know what goes on in our hearts and minds, but the Spirit of God goes beyond only know what is happening within God; It lets us, humans, in on it. The Spirit is able to show us gifts of life that we are receiving or that we might have received and it gives us salvations from within that God is giving us. One who is not connected spiritually with God cannot receive these things though. So it is always harder for a person who does not believe to get pushed into believing in God unless they chose to break that barrier of stubbornness towards the Spirit. By being alive in our Spirit and connected to God’s Spirit we are able to do so much more and walk more obediently beside Christ.

“Live as you were called”

1 Corinthians 7:18-24 speaks of how we should not want to change a single thing about our bodies and beings to become a certain way for Christ. The title says ‘Live as you were called,” and in these few verses one who is uncircumcised is compared to one who is, and God says that there is no difference between one or the other because they were both called while being in their different conditions. There are many different beliefs in different religions and denominations, but I think that this could pertain to tattoos and piercings and scars and such. Some Christians believe that markings on a body is a sin because they are ruining the temple of God, but others do not think this way. I think we should all come back to this passage in the bible and settle our differences. “So brothers, in whatever condition each was called, there let him remain with God.” 7:24

That is all for today’s devo! I hope your Sunday/Fathers Day has been so lovely and grand!! Until next time 🙂
