60 Day New Testament Journey Catch-up ~ John 11 – 21

Before I start I will warn this might be quite the lengthy post, but it’ll all be golden and scripture filled! I love you all and I hope your day has been so grand!! After this post will be posting the start of the book of Acts and that will put us back on track 🙂

“This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” 11:4

When I read this the first thing to came to mind was that saying that i’m sure you’ve heard.. “Everything happens for a reason.” Every trial is a blessing in disguise, and we won’t be able to see God’s work until we come out of the trail and look back then have that moment of awe. It has been said before too much, but only because it is that important! Our Father knows what is good for us, and our lives. Jesus saying that even things as rough as illness are blessings is so hard to comprehend but all we can do is trust.

“During the super, when the devil had already put it into the heart of judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God.”  13:2-3

Now I don’t often like to talk about the devil, because I hate to even give him even a second of my day, but these verses are important. John 13:2-3 which is above shows how good the devil is at doing his job. I know what you’re thinking!! Whoa Jenna, too far! Did you just say that the devil was good at something?? Yes. It pains me to admit it, but it’s true. He knows us so well, he knows what triggers us, what hurts us, what can make us fall, and what can even drive us to the edge. He knew Judas, and Judas had not done the one thing that we are all always supposed to do, secure his heart and thoughts in Christ. We always talk about how Jesus knows what is coming, God knows our future, but this verse shocked me. I cannot believe I am even saying this, but I just never considered the fact the maybe even the devil knows what could be coming in our near future, and he’s trying to push us into sin. God knows where we will end up and he is cheering us on to live a life for him, and I am not scared by the fact that the devil knows me well because I am covered by the blood of Jesus, and so are you. The devil was overcome soooo long ago so I do not want you to feel freaked out or anything. Just know how he works and what he thinks he has the power to do over you and shut him down when he tries.

“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would have loved you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” 15:18

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. 16:33

The purpose of the book of John – “Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” 20:30-31
