60 Day New Testament Journey ~ Luke 1-7

“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, form now on all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name, and his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation.” 1:46-50

The Angel Gabriel delivered a message from the Lord on to Mary and her relative Elizabeth, and this was the birth of Jesus and John the Baptist being foretold in their futures. These were the words that were spoken to John when he was born: “And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God” 1:76-78 I believe that now this message is one that can be spoken over all of our lives. We have to take the duty into our own hands to prepare, teach, and spread salvation and mercy. After all we are the children of the Most High!

“Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straight, and the rough places shall become level ways, and the flesh shall see the salvation of God.” 3:4-6

Jesus is tempted for 40 days by the devil. This is what He has taught us to say when temptation comes our way:

  • “Man shall not live by bread alone”
  • “You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.”
  • “You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.”

Jesus began his ministry when he was 30 years old, just a little insight there. Something that I did not know personally!! 🙂 Pretty cool!

“I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.” 4:43
