In Matthew 1-4 we come across the most definitely well known story of The Birth of Jesus, and the fulfillment of what the Lord had spoken by the profit which is “Behold, the Virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
Totally off track kind of but how freaked out do you think Mary was?! & even more so Joseph, oh gosh!
2:9 After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was.”
I know it’s something that is almost always repeated but how lucky and fortunate are we to have a God that places things like opportunities and guides us to places where there is good for our lives? I feel so undeserving. The scripture says that the wise men rejoiced when they saw the star and where it led them to, but I can’t help to wonder if maybe they felt a little like I do right now. We’re always so busy trying to manage and control our own lives and destiny’s, but what if all we had to do was trust God, look up to Him and let us guide us in the right direction.
Since the Birth of Christ he was persecuted and it started off with Herod. Now here we are thousands of years later and it excites me to imagine the army of believers that would have surround baby Jesus if we were all taken back to that time, so powerful!
The Baptism of Jesus
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. 14 John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and you do come to me?” 15 But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consent. 16 And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; 17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, whom I am well pleased.”
Baptism is something that we’ve all gone though or will go though, and it’s a step in faith and moving forward in our walk with Christ. To see Jesus go through being baptized goes to show how human he was and how he had to go though the things that we all go through. God was pleased with His son, and His love extends beyond Jesus right into our lives and shows how pleased He is in us when we take steps in our lives towards Him.
The devil is persistent and as much as I hate to admit it he is good at what he does. He’s a great tempter, and great at trying to make us fall into sin. Above him we must follow before Jesus and proclaim that we live by the words that only come out of the mouth of God, we will not test Him, and we will only serve and worship our one true God. Only when we live by that motto the devil will be forced out of our lives.
After the devil tempts Jesus He starts His ministry and call the first disciples which are Simon, Andrew, James, and John. They go though Galilee and start the mission of God and start to disciple and teach people. This was the beginning of everything! There is one thing that I want to leave all of you all before this devo comes to an end and it’s this encouragement from Jesus. “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
That is all for today folks, sorry for the latish post!! hope all is well! Tomorrow i’ll be reading though Matthew 5-8. I love you all! Until tomorrow! 🙂
